“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” -Corinthians 13:4-7
When I’ve read these words in the past I have always related them to relationships and how to love other people. But what about ourselves? Do you allow patience or kindness towards yourself? Are you to proud to show vulnerability?
Far to often we chose anger and comparison or selfishness with ourselves. Whether over our body’s or our income or other materialistic things. But what about feeding your soul? Nourishing them and treating them with care. When we can fill our soul with love and affection it will reflect in our life and relationships.
Social media has enhanced social norms and what society finds beautiful. But it has also allowed for voices to be heard. Women and men alike are standing up for what they find beautiful and in most instances it comes from authenticity and not materialism. We need to let these words flourish into our everyday lives. We need to allow every young girl to feel she can be whoever she wants to be and every young boy to be vulnerable towards what he loves.
Love starts from within; let’s help mold and change our further generations!
